My name is Jennifer Jane Thomson and I
take all the classes at The Starlight Dance Company.
I have been dancing since the age of
three, although my Mum says I was dancing long before that!
Now aged 29, I am very proud to have my own dance school as
I have always wanted to teach dancing. I started off learning
Tap and Modern dance and continued with this for many years
before taking up Disco, Majorettes, Line Dancing and Rock
n Roll. I passed many exams in all of these and performed
in countless displays over the years. I have always loved
dancing and my dream was always to teach children to dance
and for them to enjoy it as much as I do.
I am fully qualified through the British Association
of Teachers of Dancing (B.A.T.D), achieving Highly Commended
in all my professional exams. I am an Associate of Stage and
Dance Cheer Pom and a Member of Freestyle. I am also fully insured
through the B.A.T.D.
I have been fully scroll checked through
Disclosure Scotland and am trained in First Aid
through St Andrews Ambulance.

Children's Classes - Every Saturday
Tap/Modern: 10.30am - 11.30am
Freestyle / Cheer : 11.30am - 12.45pm
Twinkle Toes 1: 12.45pm - 1.30pm
Adult Classes - Every Tuesday
Adult Tap - 7pm - 8pm
Adult Freestyle - 8pm - 9pm
Adult Dance Cheer Pom - 9.30pm every second week
Children's Classes - £3.50 per class
Adult Classes - £4.00 per class
Discount if more than one class taken!
Payment for classes made monthly on the
first week of every month.
All classes require loose, breathable
clothing, such as tracksuit bottoms, T-shirts etc. If you have
leotards, leggings, ankle warmers etc. these can be worn.
Suitable footwear is also required. If
you have dance shoes such as Tap/Jazz/Disco shoes, please wear
these. If not, trainers are suitable for Freestyle and Dance Cheer
Pom, Hard soled shoes without a heel for Tap, and socks are actually
best for Modern.
Children's Classes:
The Starlight Dance Company's uniform is a black sleeveless catsuit,
pale pink ankle warmers, Starlight badge, black tap or jazz shoes.
Pink wrap over ballet cardigan optional.
If you wish to purchase any dancewear
or footwear, I can do this on your behalf. Starlight Dance Company
Badges can be purchased at £5 each.
Adult Classes:
No uniform required, but sensible footwear and loose breathable
clothing advised.
It is a good idea to bring a bottle of
water with you to any dance class to keep you hydrated while you
are dancing.
If you are attending Dance Cheer Pom and
have your own pom-poms, please bring them along. If you wish to
buy a pair, I can order them for you. Please note, pom-pom's will
be available to use in class each week, but these cannot be taken
away.
Ideas! I am always open to hearing what
ideas you have to offer. Freedom to express yourself and increasing
individual creativity is important to me. I hope to include sections
in each class for pupils to show me their ideas.
